Yin Yoga...A deep stretching of the bodies connective tissues. Yin yoga is a less-popular form of yoga which is performed to stretch the connective tissues of the body. Primary connective tissues include the hips, thighs and lower spinal area. These types of tissues do not stretch the muscles (as in the yang form of yoga) but they stretch and exercise the bone and joints areas of the body. This type of asana practice is beneficial to a wide variety of people.  Bend is one of the handful of studio’s that offers this wonderful class

TAI CHI...Chen Style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is a tradtional martial art, preserved by my Teacher, Chen Zhonghua. It was passed down from the Chen Family, Most notably Chen Fake, to his longest standing disciple, Hong Jungsheng, then to my teacher. In Grandmaster Hong's own words,
"Chen Style Taijiquan corresponds to the theory of the meridian network, and thus is a good exercise for the wellbeing of people. It also conforms to the theory of dynamics in physics. It expresses the principle of the law of the unity of the opposites. In martial arts, it is a higher learning of the “soft” supplementing the “hard”, and “four ounces overcoming one thousand pounds.” -March 1988

It is a traditional art taught in a traditional manner, therefore our primary focus is on correct principles and structure. One aspect unique to Chen Style Taijiquan is something called silk-reeling energy (chanfa). These are spiraling movements which drive the body. This type of movement is good for focus, coordination, general well being, opening the joints of the body, and the internal organs. Students in the past have recovered from ailments such as asthma, heart problems, arthritis, fibromyalgia, knee problems, etc. It is not easy, but it is fun, and dedicated practice can yeild some very positive results.

Mat Pilates...is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core or center (tones abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' flexible system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning advancing. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. No muscle group is under or over trained.  It enhances core strength and brings increased reach, flexibility, sure-footedness and agility.

Prenatal and Restorative Yoga...This yoga class is for pre-natal, postpartum and those wanting a yoga class that uses light asana (poses) to move the spine in all directions; slowly and with breath awareness. This class is for students who want to move at slower pace and move inwards to promote healing. It is recommended for students with injuries, stress, and fatigue or for anyone who really wants or needs to relax. When we practice yoga this way we become more flexible in the body and mind, without effort.

Sunrise Beach Yoga...An instructor gathers students on North Avenue Beach to stretch their way through a flow yoga session as the sun rises. The one-hour sessions, which are suitable for yogis of all skill levels, are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 a.m during the summer months.

Vinyasa Yoga...is a yoga class denotes a flowing, dynamic form of yoga, connected to breath or pranayama in which yoga and mudra transitions are embodied as linkages within and between asana. Indeed, this process entrains the mindstream with the bodymind of the aspirant, and fuels the samādhi of Mystery in the adept; in affirmation that no value judgment between the importance or ascendancy of the asana or the transitions between asana is held. This view of non-judgment is grounded, founded and based in the Shunyata Doctrine which informed the development of vinyasa styles.  Vinyasa is also employed as a noun to describe the sequence of poses that are performed.
